Isaaq snack apples are a success in the cashier area of some European retailers. ‘There is no better position for a healthy snack than the cashier area.
Isaaq is not a competitor of other apples, but of other snacks in that area. We want to motivate people to choose a healthy snack. The packaging shows the whole fruit. Natural Snack has been created to support this innovative brand and variety which is resistant, as well as producer and environment friendly. Sustainability is an important part of our ethical balance.
Historic licensee, south tyrolean based Gebrüder Clementi, planted 12 hectares of Isaaq together with KIKU Variety Management. Luis Clementi, technical manager, explains: ”The variety can be sold in the cashier area because of its characteristics: crunchy with a long shelf-life, which allows you to interrupt the cool chain.“
The new 4 fruits packaging is handy, it displays the whole fruit and is ideated to allow mechanic filling. It’s then sold in a standard carton of the licensed partner, saving costs on packaging and logistics. Jürgen Wieser of Austrian Partner Kröpfl states, ”We plan to rapidly expand plantings and the producers are enthusiastic.“
Martin Siller of Bio Express reported good sales online.
New Zealand Partner Pickmee! started planting the first trees of the 100 hectares project: ”Some of our Asian customers want small portions. KIKU Variety Management has the right apple for them.”
We need innovative concepts, we present the apple in a different manner, in new places, in a new way, in order to stop decreasing consumption, and eventually even increase consumption. We are working on vending machines and other concepts for the consumption on-the-go, for everybody from age 0 to 100. An apple is so practical, you can eat it everywhere.
